On 25th February, 1915, the 1st South Wales Borderers battalion of 3 Brigade, 1st Division, moved from Bethune to Festubert where two companies went into reserve billets while the other two companies moved into the front line. They remained here until relieved on 7th March When in the billets the men formed working parties for various tasks including the dangerous job of strengthening the trenches at night. Thomas Willats was killed on 6th March. |
